The Athletic Club of Bend has drawn multiple offers since it was listed for sale in October at $22.5 million, according to listing agent Compass Commercial Real Estate Services.

Compass partner Erich Schultz said the owners have received three letters of intent and are negotiating with two of the potential buyers. All of the interested parties currently own or have owned fitness clubs in the past and want to pick up the business in a fast-growing city like Bend, he said. The suitors hail from Florida, New York and Seattle, he said.

The club’s roughly 2,500 members have been promised that it will continue as a club, Schultz said.

The $22.5 million listing includes the 129,674-square foot building at 61615 Athletic Club Drive on 10.8 acres and the business itself near the intersection of Mt. Washington and SW Century drives and SW Reed Market Road. A surrounding 12.1-acre property with development potential is listed for an additional $14.4 million.

“Most of the activity is on the club,” rather than the development land, Schultz said. “I think it relates to the cost of development today, and so it’s hard to make projects work.”
